JANET MULLIGAN has always been fascinated by glass. As a young girl, she was mesmerized by the crystal chandelier in the movie "Pollyanna" and was awe-inspired by the auras of stained glass windows in church.
Today, Janet pursues her passion for glass through the art of glass fusion; cutting, shaping and melting glass."The possibilities are endless...the opaqueness, hue, shading with glass shards, powders and frit - the effects of all these can be amazingly diverse. Different effects with the glass can be made by varying the speed and intensity of heating the glass in the kiln," Janet says.
Now retired from her career in the school system, Janet gets inspiration from manatees, egrets, alligators, raccoons, osprey, owls, jumping mullet and many other species. She makes time every day to "play with glass."
