KEN JENSEN'S artwork features wheel and slab-built pots and wall pieces, strongly influenced by Japanese pottery and tropical fantasy. Ken applies land and seascapes with airbrush stencils and paintbrushes, creating the imagery in glazes and underglazes. Many pieces have motifs of seaturtles, fish, palm trees and bamboo.

Raku firing (fast cooling and smoking) is used to produce crackle effects and copper lusters (his containers are often as beautiful inside as they are on the outside). Raku pieces remain porous and are meant only for dry arrangements or dry foods. Decorative enjoyment is recommended. He also has a line of blue seaturtle and fish ceramic mugs (small and large) meant for drinkable liquids that are dishwasher and microwave-safe.

Ken earned a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Florida in the mid-1970s. He and his family moved to St. Augustine in 1993 and Ken is known throughout Florida for his art festival exposure and award-winning pieces.
