Debra's art captures the quiet beauty of life’s most cherished places—whether it’s a childhood home, a sunlit garden, or a beloved travel destination.
Debra’s artwork captures the quiet beauty of life’s most meaningful places, whether it's a childhood home, a garden in bloom, or a favorite travel destination. Her paintings offer a sense of peace and reflection, each one inviting viewers to pause and connect with the warmth and joy they represent. Originally from central Illinois, Debra lived in Tallahassee, Florida, for over 40 years before moving to St. Augustine in 2023. She shares her life and creative spirit with her husband Randy, also an artist, and together they have raised three children.
A self-taught artist working in acrylic and oil, Debra has drawn and painted throughout her life, whether inspired by personal experiences or commissioned projects. In 2006, she launched her professional art career with Painted Memories, a collection of works created from clients’ travel and home landscape photos. These paintings are designed to preserve special places and memories, offering a timeless way to celebrate the stories that matter most.
Her work is known for its optimism and nostalgic charm. Debra often paints real or remembered landscapes, personal residences, historic locations, cottage florals, and natural scenes that reflect the joy she finds in everyday living. Her subjects are often deeply personal, ranging from current homes and childhood dwellings to beach houses and meaningful moments captured in time.
Debra has been a dedicated part of the Florida art community for many years. She has been selected to exhibit annually at the LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival in Tallahassee from 2007 through 2025 and was honored as the featured artist in 2008. She served on the board of directors for the LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts and has exhibited alongside her husband in three Side by Side shows. Her artwork is currently on view at Weezie’s and Strauss Gallery in Tallahassee, River’s Edge Gallery and Island Dog in the Apalachicola area, and locally at High Tide Gallery in St. Augustine and Luxury for Less in Ponte Vedra Beach. She is also a member of the St. Augustine Art Association.
