Watercolor, Prints

Carol’s art radiates warmth and movement, fusing tradition with spontaneity through bold color and fluid design. Her pieces celebrate new beginnings and natural rhythms, inviting viewers to connect with joy, healing, and the ever-evolving cycle of life.
Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, Carol Lye spent 35 years in Australia before finding her way to the charming, historic town of St. Augustine, Florida, where she’s been inspired by the beaches and natural beauty for the past year.
A self-taught artist whose journey began in high school, Carol embraces experimentation as the foundation of her creative process. After years of working with acrylic on canvas, she now explores the expressive energy of ink, creating vibrant, cheerful, and uplifting pieces that reflect both her cultural heritage and her love for nature.
A signature element in many of Carol’s works is the Māori spiral known as the Koru—a symbol of new life, growth, strength, peace, and the continuous cycle of life. This powerful motif weaves tradition into contemporary forms, grounding each piece in deep meaning and cultural connection.
Carol joined the High Tide Gallery just a few months ago, but her impact is already felt. Inspired by the natural beauty of Florida, she pours light, movement, and joy into every artwork, sharing her unique perspective with each new creation.
