Jackie Hird is a passionate landscape photographer who has called Downtown St Augustine her home for over three and a half decades. With an unwavering love for her community, Jackie has dedicated her lens to capturing this historic locale's timeless beauty and unique charm.
Jackie's journey as a photographer began as a young girl in her native country England. She first got interested in photography when she was given an old family Kodak Brownie camera for a school trip to London. She was intrigued by the idea that what she saw she could look at and be reminded of at a later time.
Over the years, her connection with the landscape deepened, and her camera became an extension of her soul. Many have commented that they feel they are there when standing in front of her wall art. Through her lens, she discovered the intricate interplay of the city's rich history, breathtaking natural scenery, and the warm, vibrant spirit of its inhabitants.
It was during a photography trip to Ireland, in 2003, that Jackie realized her true calling. She felt alive when photographing the colors, textures, and different nuances of light. The final confirmation she was on the right path was being high-fived by a National Geographic Photographer who told her she had an eye for photography.
