John Gehri

St. Johns, FL

Paintings, Colored Pencil, Watercolor

John’s intricate wildlife art blends his disciplined investigative career with a natural talent for capturing the delicate details of the animal world.

John Gehri is a self-taught artist. He has no formal training other than a correspondence course to refine some basic drawing techniques. Most of his training came from trial and error and art books purchased through Northlight and American Artist Magazine. As a young man he was always able to draw and excelled in art.
John retired from the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) as a Supervisory Special Agent, serving in assignments throughout the United States, Southeast Asia and Indian Ocean. He was also a Senior Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center for 10 years.
He works primarily in mixed media, combining colored pencil, ink and Prisma Markers, concentrating on wildlife.
His artwork has appeared in numerous galleries throughout the United States, American Artist Magazine, as well as in private collections in California, Texas, Colorado, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and New Hampshire.
