Lorae Gamsey

St. Augustine, FL

Paintings, Photography

Lorae’s art and photography capture the unique essence of St. Augustine, revealing the subtle beauty and emotional depth of the city she has always called home.

Born and raised in St. Augustine, Lorae Gamsey is a native artist whose work is deeply inspired by her hometown’s charm, light, and coastal beauty. Surrounded by creativity from a young age—her father a mixed media painter of St. Augustine scenes, and her uncle a gallery-represented photographer—Lorae began creating art at just 14 years old and has made it a daily part of her life ever since.
Lorae works with a range of mediums including acrylic, oils, pencils, pastels, and watercolor. In recent years, her passion has shifted more toward photography, capturing the rich textures and early-morning light of St. Augustine. Her photos highlight the city's architecture and coastal essence, often focusing on a single subject while allowing the surrounding atmosphere to quietly unfold in the background.
She joined High Tide Gallery in 2019, where her art has continued to evolve and reach new audiences. Whether she’s behind the camera or holding a paintbrush, Lorae’s work is deeply symbolic and reflective of her emotions and environment. St. Augustine’s beauty is her daily inspiration, and creating art is simply part of who she is.
Her photography has been featured in First Coast Life Magazine two years in a row, and her images have been shared by prominent platforms like Totally St. Augustine. Her work is also proudly displayed in private collections and public spaces, including The Eye Center of St. Augustine.
