Nancy Engleman

St. Augustine, FL

Glass

Nancy brings coastal stories to life through the shimmering unpredictability of glass and the timeless beauty of oil on canvas.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Nancy Engleman has been making art since childhood, drawn early to the creative possibilities of working with her hands. A formative art teacher introduced her to glasswork, setting her on a path that would eventually lead to her becoming a seasoned artist working in both oil and kiln-formed glass.
Now living in St. Augustine, Nancy has embraced the region’s rich artistic heritage and coastal charm. She has called the area home for the past two years, inspired daily by its beauty, wildlife, and historic atmosphere. Since joining High Tide Gallery in 2025, she has become known for her handcrafted works that capture the local scenery with warmth and originality.
Nancy’s work is grounded in process. She paints in oils and also creates fused glass art—a technique that involves cutting, shaping, and firing glass at high temperatures in a kiln. The result is always unique. The fused pieces may feature beach birds, lighthouses, abstract waves, or the soft hues of coastal light, with each work containing its own personality due to the unpredictable nature of glass in the kiln.
For Nancy, the joy of making art lies as much in the journey as in the finished piece. Whether she’s grinding glass for a new design or capturing a shoreline in oils, her art reflects a quiet reverence for beauty and a deep appreciation for the tactile, transformative act of creation.
