With over 20 years of experience, Petra Patton creates beach-inspired artwork designed to bring happiness and tranquility into people’s lives. She personally visits each beach to hand-select the sand and seashells that become essential elements in her richly textured encaustic pieces and sand candles.
Petra’s process honors the earth through the use of natural materials like beeswax, wood art boards, and mostly recycled packaging. Her encaustic technique—heating beeswax, damar resin, and pigments to create layered, tactile seascapes—draws on a centuries-old tradition dating back to ancient Egypt. The result is art that encourages viewers to pause, breathe, and feel the calming presence of the beach.
