From operatic stages to gallery walls, Raquel Rubí brings a vibrant, heartfelt energy to everything she creates—fostering connection, beauty, and inspiration for the next generation of artists.
Dr. Raquel Rubí is a Cuban-born multidisciplinary artist whose talents flourish across both music and visual art. Her creative voice is informed by a deep academic foundation, holding a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida International University and a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Miami.
Her artistic journey began in Havana, performing with the early music ensemble Ars Longa, and she later co-founded El Gremio, a group blending historically informed music with theatrical performance. Since then, Raquel has performed as a soprano in opera, zarzuela, and operetta with acclaimed companies such as Sociedad Pro-Arte Grateli, Miami Lyric Opera, and Frost Opera Theater. Her recent performance as the Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with First Coast Opera was met with glowing reviews.
Raquel is also a passionate concert producer and educator. She has created and directed original performances including Estampas de Zarzuela, Women in Opera, and The Very Many Mary Poppins—projects that spotlight emerging talent and invite the community to experience classical music in fresh, inclusive ways.
Her artistic curiosity eventually led her to the world of visual art. Studying under artist Paulo Jimenez and completing professional training through the Milan Art Institute, Raquel has cultivated a unique visual style that blends painterly elegance with expressive storytelling. Her solo exhibition at the Rotunda of the Government Center in 2023 marked a significant milestone in her visual art career, and her work can now be found in galleries throughout Florida.
Through her nonprofit, RubiMusic, she continues to champion classical music and arts education, providing meaningful platforms for youth and emerging artists to learn, grow, and shine.
Raquel Rubí’s artistry—whether sung, painted, or performed—radiates with cultural richness, emotional depth, and a profound sense of purpose.
