Woodworking

Scott’s work channels the soul of the sea into powerful, hand-carved sculptures that celebrate coastal living in its rawest, most vibrant form.

Originally from Satellite Beach, Florida, Scott Campbell has spent over three decades carving his way through the art world. His journey into sculpture began in an unexpected yet fateful way—while living above the legendary Mai Tiki Gallery in Cocoa Beach, he was struck with the sudden impulse to start carving wood. That creative spark quickly became a lifelong passion and profession.
Scott relocated to the St. Augustine area in recent years and joined the High Tide Gallery family in 2021. His medium of choice is as distinctive as his coastal subject matter. He works primarily with native satellite palm trees and pressure-treated dock poles, but also carves in cedar, oak, and magnolia. Using a mix of hand and power tools, he shapes each piece with a rugged, textural style that captures movement and personality.
His work is deeply rooted in the aesthetics and rhythms of the “salt life.” From marine creatures to tiki-inspired forms, Scott’s sculptures echo the bold energy of life by the water. While his themes often reflect oceanic culture, he also embraces custom commissions, carving everything from sea life to pop culture characters—once creating a Harley Quinn sculpture at a client’s request.
Each of Scott’s works is a tribute to the coast, both in material and spirit. Whether it’s a towering tiki or a detailed sea turtle, his carvings bring a sense of adventure, nostalgia, and salt-air soul to every space they inhabit.
