Barbara Remensnyder

St. Augustine, FL

Seasonal, Stationary

Meet Barbara Remensnyder, a watercolor artist whose creative path brings personal experience, thoughtful craft, and a distinctive point of view to each piece.

Barbara Remensnyder’s art has always been a labor that is heavy on love. “I’m not trying to paint out any deep dark secrets,” she says. “I’m an enthusiastic and positive person. Color is everything to me.” After beginning to paint in the 1950s, Barbara began her formal art training more than thirty years ago, when she finished her business/art degree at Palm Beach College. “I was encouraged by a professor to continue developing my skills,” she says. Since then, Barbara has been involved in multiple art communities. “I have been a board member of several art organizations in Western North Carolina and South Florida,” she says. Having begun her journey with watercolors, Barbara is now also versatile with acrylic and alcohol inks. “My pieces celebrate the flowing rhythms, intricate patterns, and vivid hues found in nature,” she says. “The only time I draw a straight line is when I’m drawing the horizon.” Describing her style as “more towards realism”, Barbara explains, “My work is not photographic or abstract. While most watercolors are subtle and quiet, mine are brighter and a little louder.” Featured in publications like ‘Bold Life Art Magazine’ out of Hendersonville, NC and on the covers of ‘The Laurel of Asheville Arts and Culture Magazine’, Barbara also has work in Brazil, Russia, and Iceland. She has been a High Tide Gallery member through multiple owners. With a deep passion for teaching her craft to others, Barbara, herself is a perpetual student. She says, “My goal is to never stop learning fascinating, new techniques.”
